It has been a bit of a season - and for the moment it is a strange mixture of messy, hopeful, terrifying, confusing, and tiring. It is partly why I haven’t been able to post, because the muddling of the thoughts has been very intense.
But I’ve got a zine session about monsters that I’m hosting on Sunday:
Here’s the little blurb:
Growl out of bed on Sunday morning and come be with us for a time to reflect on the concept of monstrosity in this messy world. Whether you draw inspiration from horror movies, fairy tales, strange creatures of the deep or the daily news, monsters, their powers and the fear they inspire can be found everywhere. In this session, we'll be looking into how we can celebrate the power of monstosity.
We'll be doing some free writing to get us started, and then working on a zine that you can share your thoughts with. Sign up with this form to join us!

I wanted to word a bit better for this post, but it is a week that is only just starting and perhaps the topic of monsters is too heavy.
For those who want a little more to read, I’m posting a story about the Filipino manananggal I wrote for the anthology Good Girls Bad Ends back in 2022 and published in 2023. It feels like a lifetime ago and a different headspace when this was written. Below is the original illustration that accompanied this story, and here is the link to the story.
Sending hope - whatever your adventures and monsters may be in this season.
